We are delighted to share that Amit has successfully passed his oral examination and advanced to Ph.D. candidacy in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Georgia.
Amit’s research focuses on Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) and glancing angle deposition (GLAD) nanofabrication, with applications ranging from biosensing and environmental monitoring to AI-driven spectral analysis. His work combines cutting-edge experiments with machine learning, aiming to develop next-generation diagnostic and sensing technologies.
During his Ph.D. journey so far, Amit has:
Published multiple papers in high-impact journals, including Chemical Society Reviews, Spectrochimica Acta A, ACS Sensors, Journal of Physical Chemistry A, and Journal of Hazardous Materials.
Made important contributions to virus detection, PFAS analysis, and bacterial biomarker classification using SERS and deep learning.
Received several prestigious honors, including the 2025 Sean M. Kirkpatrick Award for Outstanding Achievement in Graduate Research.
Actively mentored undergraduate researchers and presented his work at major conferences such as SciX 2024.
