Prof. Yiping Zhao Named 2026 National Academy of Inventors Senior Member

We are proud to share that Prof. Yiping Zhao, Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Georgia, has been named a 2026 Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).
This recognition honors academic inventors whose patented technologies and translational research have demonstrated meaningful societal impact and commercialization potential. The Senior Member designation highlights sustained contributions to innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology development.
Prof. Zhao is among six University of Georgia faculty members selected this year. Their election further strengthens UGA’s growing national presence in innovation and intellectual property development.
According to the official University of Georgia announcement:
“This honor reflects not only the strength and depth of research at UGA but also our faculty’s commitment to translating discoveries beyond the lab to create meaningful impact in the world.”
The 2026 Senior Members will be formally inducted at the National Academy of Inventors annual meeting in June.
